Cannabis will be gifted by our partners the Negril Soap Factory & the local EABIC Rastafarian Church
|
Negril Soap Factory is a sacramental medicinal wellness store and a proud member of the EABIC (Ethiopia Africa Black International Congress Church of True Divine Salvation) – the Rastafarian church.
The Negril Soap Factory supports the Rastafarian community that has built the cannabis culture in Jamaica and around the world and encourages education of the holistic use of cannabis as it relates to the mind, body and spirit. The store operates under a sacramental license which means that visitors do not really purchase products; they are donating to the EABIC church.

On our retreat we will continue the spiritual traditions of the Rastafarians each evening as we join together to reflect on our shared experience.
Rastafarians consider cannabis a part of the Tree of Life mentioned in several Bible verses and believe that “The herb is the key to new understanding of the self, the universe, and The Creator. It is the vehicle to cosmic consciousness." “Thou shalt eat the herb of the field” (Genesis 3:18), “Eat every herb of the land” (Exodus 10:12) and “The herb is the healing of the nations” (Revelation 22:2). |

Our journey today takes about 25 minutes outside of Negril out to Canaan Mountain. After we turn off the main road we drive 4 miles up the mountain until we approach the impressive wooden gates of Zimbali Retreat. Our hosts for the Mark and Alicia invite us into a magical open air lounge to wait for our guide Rasta Fiyah to take us on a hike out to his farm, "Camp Survival", for a true Rastafarian dining experience.
On the way we stop at “Gracie’s Spring” to fill our water bottles with natural water straight from the ground. Once up at the camp, follow Fiyah to pick fresh foods and spices. Now it’s time to start the fire. Rasta Cooking is known as ‘Ital Cooking’ and it relies on all-natural herbs, spices and hand squeezed coconut oil for its one of a kind flavor. This is a true learning experience on so many levels that many people find it life changing. This is reason alone to make the journey. |
After Rasta Fiyah leaves us back at Zimbali we find our way to the deck that overlooks the lush tropical landscape below. Now is a great time for a toke and reflect on how totally amazing and peaceful you feel right at that moment. The parrots are singing, the palm trees are swaying in the gentle breeze and you realize just how awesome the world is. Zimbali is a truly special place.
|
Our day continues with a tour of Zimbali's Ganja Farm where you can meet and talk with the local growers to learn how they manage the plants. This is your oppotunity to learn a few tips and secrets from "old-school" Rastafarian farmers.
The next part of the tour takes us through Zimbali's impressive "Farm to Table" organic farm. You will see many of the items growing that will utilized in our 5-Course Infused "Farm to Table" Dinner Experience. |
Our final event is our Infused 5-Course Farm to Table Dinner at Zimbali's stunning open-air show kitchen. You will experience the meal as the chef creates each course. As you inhale the amazing smell's the excitement builds as you watch the chef use the farm fresh produce to create the first course. As we work our way through the meal our, Host Alicia, will tell stories about the local area around Zimbali and provide tips about how she uses the fruits and vegetables they harvest from the organic farm. This will be an experience you will remember for the rest of your life!!

Isn't ganja is illegal in jamaicaCanna-tourism to Jamaica is now possible due to the decriminalization of Cannabis in 2015. The Dangerous Drugs Act of 2015 established the CLA to regulate Medical Marijauana and create a path for official licensing of the Rastafarian Church and other local growers.

Jamaican cuisine is a feast for the taste buds. Delicious seasonal fruits bursting with flavor, deep earthy spices and a melting pot of culinary traditions, make Jamaica a foodie's escape. There's simply nothing like eating jerk fresh off flavorful pimento wood, or the taste of a beautifully rolled spliff of Purple Kush while chilling at 3 Dives watching the sunset. From locally procured chicken to pork, fresh caught lobster and fish, there’s a jerk meal for just about any palate. Like the soft white sand of the beaches or the pulsating beats of reggae music, jerk cuisine is world famous. Jerk is both a method of cooking and a harmonious combination of spices originating with the Maroon people of Jamaica in the 1600’s. During the colonization of Jamaica by the British, the resilient runaway slaves known as the Maroons eluded the British by inhabiting the mountainous interior regions of Jamaica. To conceal their location they prepared meals underground, over coals and pimento wood, common to the hills of Jamaica. Today this method of jerking meat is synonymous with Jamaica and transcends much of the culinary scene. Be warned, however, the combination of sweet and savory spices mixed with fragrant wood is very hard to resist. You may find that your Jamaican diet consists of little else. Jerk chicken and pork is will be abundant on our retreat. Make sure you pair it with traditional Jamaican favorites like Festivals (a fried sweet dough), Bammies (a cassava flatbread) and Coco Bread (a sweet yeast roll). |

David GapinRetreat planner/ Travel AgentSince the early 90's Jamaica has been my favorite place to visit. After becoming a travel agent in 2006 I chose to promote Jamaica as a top destination for my clients vacations, as well as for my own getaways.
In 2015 Jamaica decriminalized and established licensed medical and rastafarian providers. I knew it was a great opportunity to create unique group retreats. I am stoked to bring together my love for Jamaica and Cannabis. My First trip to Jamaica was back in 1995. I actually won the trip on a radion contest... thank you Big106 FM in Ft. Lauderdale! Fast Forward a few years when in 2006 changed careers and found my passion selling travel. Jamaica quickly became my numer one selling destination. I made visiting Jamaica a priority to point that many of my personal vacations have been to Jamaica. Even in this past year with Covid making travel difficult I visited Jamaica twice. I am so stoked to create this awesome 420 Celebration in Negril. |
